No Cutting, No Sewing: Laser Assisted Periodontics

With all of the advancements in technology aiding oral health in the past century, one of the biggest may very well be the advent of periodontal laser therapy, namely Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) and Laser Assisted Peri-implantitis Protocol (LAPIP). Though lasers are often seen as “high-tech” and it should come as no surprise that they are the hot button item in most periodontal settings, what makes them so effective and endearing to patients when compared to traditional soft tissue techniques to treat periodontal disease?

For one, laser periodontics have been found to be incredibly effective.  Though LANAP and LAPIP themselves are trademarked procedures through Millennium Dental Technologies and their Periolase MVP-7 laser, laser dentistry stretches far and wide through the profession with great efficacy.

Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) and Laser Assisted Peri-mplantitis Protocol (LAPIP) can deliver excellent results with minimal patient discomfort.

Second, it is a relatively pain free procedure.  In fact, the LANAP procedure through Millennium bosts a “No cut, No sew” promise, giving patients unparalleled results through a limited down time, low pain, minimally invasive procedure.  No one likes going to the dentist. However, it does become a much easier pill to swallow when the patient knows that there are no scalpels involved!

Dr. Upasna Janu and Dr. Jay Platt are specially trained in use of the Periolase MVP-7 laser to perform both the LANAP procedure to treat gum disease and infection, as well as the LAPIP procedure to treat infections of dental implants both following initial placement and during revision.  The results are truly something to smile about.
