How Minimally Invasive Laser Dentistry is Saving Dental Implants

When properly cared for with best practices in dental hygiene, dental implants can provide a lifetime of confidence and smiles to patients.  However, as with any sort of oral health issue, lack of oral hygiene can lead to problematic situations around your new teeth.  Just like with periodontitis, peri-implantitis is a build-up of bacteria in the mouth, this time around the dental implant, leading to infection, inflammation, damage to the gum tissue and deterioration of the bone around the implant itself.1

With the use of the Millennium Dental Technologies Periolase MVP-7 Laser, Dr. Platt and Dr. Janu can save your dental implants with no cutting, no sewing, and no removal of the implant!

Treatment of such conditions all focus on controlling and eliminating the infection by cleaning the area of debris and bacterial formation.2 Until recently, such treatments involved surgical, invasive procedures such as debridement through flap surgery or removal of the failing implant.2 However, thanks to advancements in dental technology, a minimally invasive option is now available right here in our Schererville, Indiana office that will have you feeling great in no time!

Using the Millennium Dental Technologies Periolase MVP-7 laser, Dr. Platt and Dr. Janu perform what is known as the Laser Assisted Peri-Implantitis Procedure, or LAPIP for short.  LAPIP uses specific wavelengths of light therapy from our specially designed dental laser right here in our office to treat the present infection and promote growth of healthy gum tissue and bone that had previously deteriorated, ultimately saving your dental implant without the need for blades or sutures!

If you are having complications with a dental implant or have been told your implant is failing, you may be a candidate for LAPIP.  Contact our office today at 219-864-1133 and get your dental implant journey back on track for a smile to last a lifetime!
